Colorado Avalanche Information
Originally known as the Quebec Nordiques until the team moved from Quebec
to Denver on June 21, 1995. The Avalanche played their first two seasons
in McNichols Arena the home of the Denver Nuggets and moved into the Pepsi
Center. In their brief history in Colorado the Avalanche have managed
to secure two Stanley Cups. The first came in a resounding sweep of the
Florida Panthers in 1996. In 2001 the Avalanche won their second Stanley
Cup against the New Jersey Devils in an exciting seven game series. They
also have had the priveledge of having an all-star roster with some of
the best names in the game. Patrick Roy, arguably the best goalie of all
time, is in goal behind a host of perennial all stars like Joe Sakic,
Peter Forsberg, Adam Foote, and Rob Blake.
